The Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) receives a 100% Cold Scrap Charge and is used as a rapid melting vessel.
The Steel is tapped into a ladle via a Sliding Gate tap hole leaving the Oxidizing Furnace slag and a small
‘Hot Heel in the Furnace. The Ladle is then transferred to the Ladle Furnace or the VAD unit where all the
secondary steel making is completed.
