Bar mill was
commissioned in May 1968.
Stage 2 of the mill was commissioned in late 1973.
The mill was designed by Morgan Construction Co. of the
USA and built by Davy United of England.
The mill hot –rolls billet into medium range Merchant bar
for use in Engineering, Automotive, building
And Fabricating Industries and for export.

The billet length used varied from 9.4m to 12.1m according
to the product produced, as does the billet cross section.
Billet cross section dimension used were:
121mm x 121mm , 127x127mm and 175x175mm
The finishing speed of the mill varied from 2 mps for
large sections and up to 14mps for small sections.
The product was either hot coiled ( 1219mm OD x 864mm ID)
or straight and cut to customer lengths (4.5m to 18m)
At the product shears before bundling and shipping ,
according to customer’s requirement.
Bar Mill production was processed into many products such
as
Springs( coil, leaf and rail clips) shock absorber ,
piston rods,
transmission gears, High tensile shafts and fasteners and
steering racks.
